Missed birthdays

Karen may be very impressive at being able to land a job in the Diplomatic Service but she's rubbish at remembering important birthdays.
So our apologies to Sharon for missing the childrens' birthdays recently; Niamh most recently, Kieran next week and Aidan last month. We hope they all had a very happy birthday and that you're not broke after buying all those presents at once (bad planning in my view) ;-)

Congratualations to Amanda who has led by example and been the first "anonymous" reader to leave a comment (but I know who you are).

Everyone else take note and follow Amanda's example, but no more comments highlighting the shortcomings of my gender please, otherwise you'll be politely asked to leave :-)

How can putting my name on the post make me annonymmous????

Besides, I'm allowed to post comments that slag you off - I can't slag you in person anymore so this is the next best thing!!!

Hope we're still on for lunch on the 16th...

There goes the neighborhood. But it’s your blog and you have a right to let in anyone, anonymous or otherwise. Amanda’s got a point: by putting her name, she isn’t (technically speaking) anonymous. But I support your stand against any bashing of males. Especially those in their forties. Especially those who drive Prados.

But seriously, what I liked about your blog was the candid view it gives about life in a foreign country. I’ve grown tired of highly opinionated blog-heads who either attack or praise countries, people, or things they’ve never even seen or gone to. I don’t blog that much since I don’t view the main significance of blogging as a diary but, rather, as a repository of my views on different topics.

You're right Joe - how could she be anonymous when she provides her name? In Blogger's terms she's anonymous because she's not a registered user, so the notification email I get that tells me she's left a comment has "anonymous comment" in the title, so I guess it got stuck in my head.

Thanks for the kind words about the blog - I appreciate it. I too came into this being a bit of a blog-hater; most blogs I'd stumbled across up until now have been vehicles for their owners to show off about themselves (I hope I'm not doing that). In fact I've never kept a diary or a website before, but being in Riyadh for two years we had lots of family, friends and colleagues who wanted to hear about our adventures, so off I went to blogger.com and the rest is history.

Your blog "Utopianrealities" looks interesting and I'll take a longer look early next week (off to the Dead Sea for the weekend).

Never mind the children, what about their poor dad! 21 again next Monday!

John, thought you'd have stopped counting by now - like me! :-)

Slaudi Aradio must know more about Saudi than I do, because I'm not sure what the Lost City is - off to Google to find out!

I wish it was a case of the counting stopping. The fact is, I can't remember what comes after 21, that's if I ever did know(don't really recall that lesson).
